Mom Was Right….Breakfast Is The Most Important Meal Of The Day!

By Dr. Jade Malay

For any Type 2 Diabetic and those who don’t want to have Insulin Resistance problems, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  After you have slept for 8-10 hours, your body needs fuel, especially protein to get the day going.  A breakfast high in protein such as eggs, turkey, vegetables, nuts and seeds will not break down quickly like meals low in proteins such as breads, donuts, cereals, and pastries.  Low protein meals lead to insulin surges that leave you hungry shortly after a meal and will promote your diabetes.

Dietary changes are important with type 2 Diabetes, but knowing what you should and should not eat is important also.  Many people have no idea what food sensitivities they may have and may be eating completely wrong.

Don’t be fooled, eating correctly is only part of the puzzle of the Diabetes disease.  If you’re eating correctly and still have high blood sugar and struggle to get it down even with medication, there could be something else going on that you doctor may have missed.  A comprehensive evaluation of your blood chemistry and possibly other tests may be needed to find the root cause of your disease.
